Tom Sims made what he termed a snowboard in 1963 while building a skateboard deck, it was an invention he failed to patent. He was a champion American snowboarder and went on to found Sims Snowboards.

At the end of the 1970s, Sims along with a couple of other snowboard manufacturers were starting to develop first generation snowboards. The early Sims snowboards were basically scaled up skateboard designs with skate timber laminate construction. They led the way in the dawning of a new industry.
As with other snowboard brands the Sims boards come in Mens and Womens models and some of these models are also available as wides.
