M3 Snowboards is the name short for Millennium 3 Snowboards. Since 1998 M3 began producing premium snowboards based on a snowboard rider influenced design concept. The graphic design of the M3 boards are a decidedly strong selling point appealing to the mass market audience.
The M3 brand was bought out in 2002 by Silence Inc. which controls a string of companies, one of which is Silence and Avalanche Snowboards. The M3 line of snowboards were to be a means of strengthening the company's existing products.

In 2002 the M3 company was sold to Silence Inc. and it was intended that the company was going to be run along the same lines along with the Silence and Avalanche brands. At the end of 2006 the licenses were acquired by Access Distribution.
